Endocrine Nursing Update & Clinical Update, Sept 2026
A valuable opportunity to engage with endocrine practitioners, we are grateful to the Society for Endocrinology for inviting us to attend, with a stand, and a presentation slot to an endocrine nurse audience.
We particularly drew attention to our newest leaflet; Understanding Steroid Medication & Sick Day Rules, as well as our Adrenal Insufficiency Action Plan - both resources that we want endocrine nurses to signpost their patients to! We also shared how they can support their patients to obtain Act-o-vial via the unlicensed medication route, and highlighted to them that Efmody is now licensed in the UK.
Over 50 healthcare professionals signed up to our newsletter, to join the 650 subscribers we already have.

British Endocrine Society Conference, March 2026
The British Endocrine Society (BES) Conference 2026 brought together around 1,000 healthcare professionals, researchers and patient organisations. Representing the Addison's Disease Self-Help Group (ADSHG), Cathy Thompson and volunteers Alison Mainwaring and Noel Hawks shared patient experiences, promoted ADSHG projects and resources, and ensured the voice of the adrenal insufficiency community was heard throughout the event.
A key highlight was ADSHG's involvement in research and collaboration, including a Highly Commended award for its Prescription Frequency Survey poster and contributions to studies on adrenal insufficiency. Discussions with clinicians generated new ideas to improve patient safety, support after adrenal crises, pregnancy care and future treatment options, reinforcing the value of strong partnerships between patients, healthcare professionals and researchers.
