Welcome to our ADSHG conference and AGM hub

Our 2024 annual conference and AGM will be held on Saturday 20 July 2024. We have an exciting day planned to help mark our 40th anniversary this year! If you're looking to attend one of our other Addison's Roadshow events in Glasgow, Cardiff or Newry, please visit our Roadshow event page here.

Joining the event

1. Come along in Person: Saturday 20th July, 9:30am (for 10.30am start) - live from Smithfield, London.

Join us to share experiences and friendship, celebrate the charity's 40th anniversary, and listen to expert talks from managing Addison's and adrenal insufficiency in your daily life, to research updates on the one-step injector for adrenal crisis.

We would love to see you there in person - you can book online now. Charity members receive a discounted ticket price as a thank you for your support: £25 for members (plus a £2.80 booking fee from Eventbrite) which includes lunch and refreshments.

2. Join from home: If you can't come along in person, join virtually via Zoom so not to miss out on our speakers and events. You'll be able to watch and take part from home live free of charge, but booking is essential.

Why not organise a gathering in your living room to watch our Zoom webcast with those who support you, or others with Addison's and adrenal insufficiency who are local to you (find people local to you on our online forum.) You could even create some decorations or refreshments with an ADSHG theme! Be sure to share your pictures and messages with us on social media. Invite those who might not be confident in using Zoom so that they can be included in our special day.

I can't attend now, will there be AGM recordings?

We hope to provide on-demand recordings on the forum after the event for those unable to attend. However, we are dependant on the technology working for us on the day for this to be possible. We will also be providing a full round-up in our next members' magazine! So keep an eye on your letterbox for our next bumper packed edition!

NICE has published its first-ever national guidance for the identification and management of adrenal insufficiency.

Sick Day Rules

Minor ailments can affect anyone with a steroid-dependent adrenal condition very differently. Things like vomiting, diarrhoea, colds and flu could cause an adrenal crisis. It’s important that you spot the early symptoms of a bug or cold and adjust your steroid replacement medication.
Adrenal Crisis - Emergency Help

Coronavirus Vaccines and Adrenal Insufficiency

Everyone with a steroid-dependent adrenal condition should get the coronavirus vaccine and boosters to reduce their risk of getting coronavirus. This is because people who are steroid-dependent are at increased risk of needing hospital care if they get coronavirus, due to the risk of adrenal crisis.

Updated NHS Steroid Card Released

Following the early release of the new NHS Steroid Emergency Card back in March to keep patients with Addison's or adrenal insufficiency safe during the COVID-19 crisis, the NHS steroid card has been updated and physical copies will be available to order from Tuesday 18th August 2020 for hospital teams!
Addison's & Adrenal Insufficiency: Advice for Dentists

The ADSHG guidelines offer illustrative guidance for major and minor dental procedures. It is important to recognise the physical stress of any invasive dental procedure and to ensure that adequate glucocorticoid cover is provided for steroid-dependent patients.
